  • “Gorgeous place”
This is a most lovely place to stay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The entire place is decorated very tastefully. There are common areas for guests to relax in, in addition to a rooftop garden. The bathrooms have great looking fixtures, wonderfully smelling soaps, etc. clean fresh bed linen, and comfortable beds. The staff are friendly and very attentive. They even set up a table and chairs for us on the terrace because we indicated we might enjoy sitting there in the evening.
Don't miss staying here when in Delhi. It's worth it!

  • “Home away from home”
I've stayed here for 9 days and the stay was wonderful. The owners are very friendly and their staff too. They will go out of their way to make the stay as pleasant as you want it to be. The rooms are clean and are cleaned every day. Breakfast is from 07.00 till 10.00 so plenty of time. If you want to order food for lunch or diner, you can either order in or their are about 40 restaurants to choose out. The menu of the Gulmohar Club is a recommendation. The neighborhood is nice and quite (as quite as it can get in Delhi) and there are sport facilities and spa's nearby. The metro station (Green Park) is a good 5-10 minutes walk through a safe area.
When I come back to Delhi this will be the place to stay!

  • “A retreat in Delhi...”
Lovely quiet atmosphere, spotlessly clean, beautifully fitted out with and relatively central area. The owners are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them in terms of advice and organising cars and so on. Highly recommended

  • “outstanding”
We started our trip to India in Delhi and thikana was a welcoming establishment with all the comforts and great service by all. Everyone is made to feel at home and the owners are full of great advice on Delhi and India. Its situated in south Delhi which is close to the airport and evening spots such as Hauser Kas village.

  • “Beautiful, quiet and friendly”
Thikana was a wonderful and quiet refuge from the chaos of the city. The place was beautiful and our room was very spacious. Our hosts made sure we had something to do on New Year's Eve and then they invited us to celebrate with them and their friends. I would definitely recommend this place

  • “Exceedingly welcome”
Very nice rooms, clean and spacious, a bit of 70ies-chique. The place is located in an upper-class and safe area of Delhi, adding to the level of comfort. The hosts really go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and are aware of any travel-woes that western tourists may have. They are also most enjoyable company for a drink or two on the terrace. We stayed here twice on our trip to India and will certainly stay again.

  • “Like Home”
This is always our first choice when passing through Delhi. It is clean, very comfortable and you can really relax here before heading out to see the sights or onward travel. Breakfast is substantial. The owners and staff help you with anything you need - taxis, recommendations for places to eat, ordering in food. It's in a nice neighbourhood and you feel safe and relaxed at Thikana. I will be definitely returning.

  • “Like Staying with Friends”

This was the best leave to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. It was wonderful to find such warm hospitality in this huge city. The rooms, bathrooms and common areas were so inviting and comfortable. Best of all were the owners who treated us like friends, inviting us down to their place for drinks and offering or daughter food when our take-out dinner took a long time to arrive. No request was too much: they made us take-out breakfast for our 6am departure for Agra, and made us an Indian breakfast upon request. Their bread selection in the regular breakfast buffet was delicious! We wished we'd known that Atul liked New York bagels, as we would have brought him a dozen. We recommend this place without any hesitation!!

  • “Thoroughly satisfying”
My wife and I stayed at Thikana recently, based on positive feedback on the internet. We were not disappointed. We had a very comfortable and homely stay with everyone very helpful and pleasant. Ms. Sheetal , the owner was most charming and made us feel at home. We will certainly choose Thikana the next time we visit Delhi. Venugopal, Malaysia

  • “5 Star Experience”

I’ve traveled to India on many occasions. Prior to this visit I had only stayed in private homes and 5 star hotels. My two visits of 3 and 4 night stays at Thikana were as good as any 5 Star hotel and as welcoming as staying with friends. Sheetal and Atul Bhalla, the proprietors of Thikana, made me feel as if I was staying with family.

Thikana’s location is in a safe, convenient location and the interior atmosphere is calm, comfortable and in which I felt very secure. Rooms, bathrooms and common areas are large and spotless. Thikana’s staff is gracious, highly capable and always greeted me with welcoming smiles.

Participation in conversation with other guests at the delicious, easy breakfasts and group dinners was the highlight of my stay. While there I met travelers from Germany, Greece, Great Britain, France, Netherlands and an Indian family from the USA. Hearing other guests’ experiences of their colorful and stimulating days touring in and around Delhi was wonderful and useful! This shared community experience made staying at Thikana a fond memory I will cherish forever! Thank you Bhallas! Plan to see me again soon.

  • “Clean and Quite Location”
Don't let the outside fool you. This guest house is out from the city centre in a secure quite location, close to some attractions and a short drive to Hauz Khas village for shopping and restaurants. Inside the guest house the rooms are spacious and clean, there are a couple common sitting areas that you can mingle with other guest. The breakfast is satisfying with cereal, juice, cooked eggs of your chose, toast, jam, tea and coffee.
Enjoyed the two nights we stayed there.

Thikana is the most balanced option if you want to feel the taste of India and at the same time have all the services of a proper hotel. Landlord and Landlady made us feel like home and supplied us all we needed. Simply great!

  • “tranquil and friendly for a woman travelling solo”
I'm not sure what more can be said. I was travelling alone, for the first time in many years. As soon as i arrived here i knew i would be ok. I arrived late at night and security was there to meet me and help me in with my bags. next day a beautiful breakfast, and then on my way to see the city. I could ask anyone for ideas, and a map was handy as well as some useful tips. Atul and Sheetal are both fun and personable. This b&b is nicely decorated with attention to detail. I think the bottom line for me was feeling like at the end of the day, i could come home.....Ating, Mary, Gopal, were absolutely awesome as well as other staff in the house. Not to mention the food that you could order out, and the other guests who stayed here. Really nice rooftop patio, lots of plants, music, and sun sun sun.........I will be coming back here, and will recommend to my friends back home.

  • “Haven and home in Delhi.”
It was my 3rd stay at Thikana and I love this place more and more. Bright and lovely decorated rooms with all you need. Possibility to meet and mix with other guests in sitting areas, at breakfast or on the beautiful roof terrace. Our hosts took so good care of us and we where invited to celebrate Diwali together. Looking forward to my next visit.

  • “Great intro to India”
This was our first stay in India - host and hostess were fantastic and could not do enough for us - best hospitality I have had in ages. The rooftop was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was amazing with the best bread I have had in India. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay. Our host also arranged a massage for us. It was fantastic. He allowed us the use of his car and driver to get there and back. It was all just too good.

My wife and I have just got back from a great stay at Thikana.
Atul and his staff looked after us from the moment we arrived. We were even fortunate to be invited to the family's Diwali celebration on the roof terrace.
It was a great base from which to explore Delhi.
For an enjoyable and memorable stay we'll be recommending Thikana to everyone.

  • “Home away from Home”
Over the past 4 years, i often visited Delhi for work and having tried hotels and other guest houses, found that Thikana offered me the home away from home.
The extremely beautiful rooms, the common areas and facilities make it fit for 5 stars !
But all of these would be nothing without the warmth and hospitality of the owners and their staff.
I was pampered at all times by our lovely hostess, Sheetal, and her mum, Geeta.
Entertained by the most hospitable Atul, and the staff, Athing, Marie, Ramu, Gopal and others went out of their way for me.
Thikama offers privacy yet also a place where one can mingle with other guests unlike in hotels.
Indeed some of my happiest moments were with other guests and the Bhalla family while they celebrated various festivals - Holi being my favorite !

  • “Friendly, luxurious B&B”
I've stayed here on and off for over a year whilst travelling in India, and it's always been a fantastic place to come back to re-charge. Conveniently situated in safe (and close to the airport) South Delhi it's also handy for getting around being a short walk from Green Park metro (which is fast, clean, efficient and completely safe and understandable) and short auto rides from the South Delhi markets and a couple of cinemas. The staff are wonderful, welcoming and helpful, the rooms very stylish and well presented. Wonderful en-suite bathrooms and a lovely rooftop (complete with sound-system, especially fun to use in winter. Wifi is also good throughout the hotel. You won't find a better place to stay in Delhi. Booking is easy. If flying in to IGI, do use the hotel's taxi service to pick you up. It's a little difficult to find first time and Delhi auto/taxi drivers don't seem to know the city very well. Once you get to the hotel, however, you're provided with a card which you can use to help auto/taxi drivers find their way to it. Would recommend staying here.

  • “Elegant and personal - a rare combination”
I stayed at Thikana as a solo business/tourism guest and found it to be the perfect place for me. Thikana's owners, Sheetal and Atul Bhalla, are warm and personable and generously share their knowledge of Delhi, such as suggesting fabulous local massages, ordering dine-in meals from local restaurants, and arranging drivers. The overall style is clean, contemporary Asian with beautiful art and wood furnishings. Perhaps the best endorsement for the experience of staying here is that Sheetal and Atul, with their warm and welcoming attitude, attract fun and interesting guests from around the world. The breakfast room serves as a great forum for meeting other guests, enjoying good conversation and getting great travel tips. The staff is excellent too.

  • “A home away from home!”
We have been living in Delhi for a year and a half and we have met Atul and Sheetal, the owners of Tikhana, socially. When we found ourselves homeless due to a serious flooding of our house on a late Saturday afternoon last July we called Tikhana and within 5 minutes we had a shoulder to cry on for our situation and a place to spend the night..Of course it turned out that we needed to spend much more than just a night since we had to look for a new house. Tikhana is an island of peace in noisy Delhi but yet very centrally located. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with new and clean bathrooms . both the rooms and common areas are beautifully furnished. The hygiene and cleanliness level is superior to many five star hotels in India...and trust me I have visited many of them! the breakfast is well thought of and quite flexible to meet the needs of guests. You can always be sure that your hosts will turn the world upside down to make you feel comfortable and meet your special needs. On top of that they are probably the most accurate "travel guides" to India. Atul and Sheetal along with their two lovely daughters Taira an Tia will need no more than 10 minutes to gain your love and make you feel you are a part of the Tikhana family! The constantly changing crowd of other guests along with the semi permanent guests that are constantly visiting Delhi for business and always return to Tikhana guarantee that you will definitely have good company when you feel like talking to people and have a glass of wine to unwind! All in All if the country itself doesn't make you want to come back then Tikhana will! Maria and Vladimir.

  • “Excellent Bed & Breakfast in South Delhi”
"Beautiful bed and breakfast in South Delhi near Hauz Khas. Sheetal and Atul are fabulous hosts and go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome and taken care of.

The breakfast is delicious and provides a multitude of options for guests' preferences and tastes. Fresh and gourmet ingredients are featured.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, and have excellent aesthetic sense.

Sheetal and Atul's aesthetic backgrounds and sense make both the rooms and common spaces delightful to spend time in. And Sheetal's art training is apparent with elegant and intriguing artwork featured throughout.

Wifi works well, is fast and easy to use in both rooms and common spaces.

ATM is just across the street and most South Delhi areas of interest are easily accessible by taxi or rickshaw. Delicious meals can be prepared in, and options for ordering in and served at the dining table are available as well.

Beautiful bathroom space with great hot water access and pressure.

In-room amenities are well-thought out and appreciated.

I have never enjoyed my time in Delhi as much as during my stay at Thikana! It is worth the indulgence, and with such a cozy and home-like atmosphere."

Thikanadelhi deserves its TA certificate of excellence.
It provides a safe, homely retreat in amongst the chaos of Delhi.

Spacious bedroom with mineral water and tea/coffee making facilities provided.
Modern, contemporary bathroom with nice towels and toiletries.
Free WiFi and pleasant shared lounge and communal areas for sitting and relaxing.

Delicious breakfast of fresh fruits, cereals, homemade bread and cakes, and eggs cooked to order.

Location was peaceful and quiet in a residential area and about a 15 minute walk away from Green Park Metro station."

  • “As good as they say”
" We very much enjoyed our stay at Thikana. Loved everything about it – great accommodation in a great location, delicious breakfasts and warm and friendly staff who were always concerned for our well being. Sheetal and Atul are fantastic hosts and can be relied upon to recommend places to visit and places to eat nearby so that you make best use of your time in New Delhi. They took the stress out of our first few days in India. We would love to go back sometime!
I can't go without mentioning Raisin the little dog, who would occasionally put in an appearance after breakfast – so cute.

  • “Wonderful guest house - a safe, warm and homely oasis in Delhi”
" I can't recommend Thikana enough, especially to solo female travellers. Delhi can feel overwhelming, but Atul and Sheetal have created a calm and relaxing space in the middle of the city. They had great staff who were on hand to answer any questions and help arrange trips or transport, and they even had a spare mobile phone for the use of female guests travelling alone in the city. I've travelled to India three times before and this was the best guest house I've stayed in.
The guest house is over two floors, and the family live downstairs, so it never feels awkward being in someones house. The rooms are lovely: the bed was comfortable and the
    shower was amazing.
Atul and Sheetal are warm and hospitable and have an excellent rapport with their guests, all of whom seem more like friends than customers. Well worth a stay, especially if you want a break from the crowds of central Delhi. Would definitely stay here again. "

"Thikana was recommended to me and was as lovely as described. A hidden, restful gem in a bustling city. Would stay there again any chance I had. Helped arrange everything from meals to tourist destinations, a car and driver, and even an acupressure treatment in my room. Breakfast was delicious (try the apple muffins) and the water is filtered and offered ice cold. Everything about this B&B is meticulously clean, fresh and tasteful.

  • “Perfect place to stay in Delhi”
" My husband and I stayed here twice on our trip to India. We stayed here for a few days before we did an 18 day tour. It was so fabulous that we came back for another week after our tour. Atul and his wife are incredible hosts. They set you up with everything that you could possibly need in India. They told us which sites to see, where to eat, and places to explore. The guest house is located in South Delhi, close to a subway stop, and close to Hauz Khas (a hip 20-30 something place Indians go to eat and shop). The guest house has plenty of places to relax, multiple living rooms and a roof deck. The rooms are nicely appointed and clean. The people there are extremely helpful and get you everything that you need. Breakfast is nice and the bread is particularly delicious. This place is so great that there are many people there for work for weeks at a time.
We told Atul (the owner) we wanted to hear some bollywood music and he took us to a club playing the music with a bunch of his friends. We had drinks with him on the rooftop many times during our stay. He also took me to one of his favorite spas for an Indian massage and full spa experience. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to all of our friends.

  • “Fantastic guesthouse”
" We stayed at Thikana in mid-March 2013 on the recommendation of family and friends as our usual options for staying in Delhi were not available to us. And I have to say, we will now be staying in Thikana on our future visits to Delhi - this guesthouse and the staff were all amazing. The attention to detail - like the little Khadi soaps and orchids in the bathroom, the bottle of mineral water in case we wanted to use that for brushing our teeth - was fabulous, and this attention to detail extended to the rest of the guesthouse. The common areas were beautiful and we fell in love with the rooftop terrace. Atul and Sheetal were extremely helpful, warm and welcoming - I particularly wish I had had more time to chat with Sheetal as she seems to have a wealth of knowledge about and interest in Delhi. I would definitely recommend Thikana to other travellers. "

" We stayed at Thikana a few weeks ago. As other reviewers have said it is very comfortable, great breakfasts, lovely rooms and bathrooms.....but what makes Thikana truly special are the owners, Atul, Sheetal and their family. We stayed at Holi and enjoyed a great party. After lending us spare clothing to get wet and dirty we sprayed each other and their children with coloured water, enjoyed music, dancing, food and drink. It really was a brilliant Holi on the roof! Thanks and looking forward to another stay. "

" I took my daughters (first trip to India- they are in their early twenties) and my sister in law, her first trip as well, and my first trip back to India in twenty five years. We stayed at the Thikana as per a prior edition recommendation by Lonely Planet. It was truly perfect! The rooms were wonderful, the decor was chic. The employees were always willing to help and serve. Sheetal and Atul were amazing hosts who went out of their way to make their customers feel welcome and present the best of Delhi. The morning breakfast buffet was excellent and plentiful. And, of course, their cocker spanial, Raisin, added such pleasure to our stay!(we are all dog people!). The rooftop sitting lounge is a zen experience. When we return, we'll stay at the Thikana! "

  • “Wonderful Experience”
" My wife and I stayed at Thikana for 8 days with our newly adopted children while we awaited clearance from the Embassy. It was like staying with family. We were so well taken care of and cared for. The hosts are stellar. They go above and beyond in meeting your needs. (Example: They set up a meeting for us with the head of a hospital to have x rays of our daughter read after a medical scare). The staff was attentive and kind. The place is clean and has a somewhat communal atmosphere (beyond the privacy of your room, of course). We had listening and dance parties on the roof top! We met interesting people from all over the world. There's a truly international vibe at Thikana. The location is great. There's no way around the horrific congestion in Delhi, but the location in a private gated community off the beaten path makes it easier If you like something a little different and the chance to meet and mingle with guests and be treated like family, this is your place. If you meet Raj, one of the commissioned drivers, please tell him his friends from Tennessee miss him and say hello! "

  • “Another wonderful stay at Thikana!”
" Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Thikana for a great visit! I first stayed in April 2010 and just recently stayed twice - on my first night in Delhi and then on the back end of my trip prior to flying back to the USA (Feb 2013).
The staff was friendly and helpful, as always. I had no problem connecting with the driver at the airport and the cars used were new, clean and smoke-free. The Thikana staff was kind and helpful at check-in and check-out was so easy. Having free computers/printers/internet/wi-fi is such a help when travelling and needing to print flight info. The beds are so comfortable and the bathrooms clean and neat.
On my last day in Delhi there was a rickshaw/taxi strike which brought the city to a standstill. The owners helped me navigate the subway (very close and easy to use) and even offered to get me to the airport in their own car if necessary. They really went out of their way to help and make my stay so comfortable and refreshing! I would highly recommend this B & B to anyone travelling to Delhi! (p.s. and the breakfast is amazing too!) "

" My partner and I stayed in Thikana for 3 nights. The room we stayed in was beautiful and modern and had every amenity. The staff were courteous and extremely helpful and an added bonus is that it is located in the posh and bustling heart of Delhi (Gulmohar Park), which is also really close to the bustling and trendy Hauz Kauz Village. Breakfast was complimentary and it was delicious. Although the hotel was beautiful and comfortable....the owners Atul and his wife Sheetal were the best part of our stay. • “Lives up to the hype”
" I came to Delhi for a week with my father and sister and we were looking for accommodations that would offer something a little more personal and artful than what you find by just booking a room at a hotel. Thikana delivered an experience that was totally fulfilling. Everything from the carefully curated rooms with comfortable beds and cozy showers to the very elegantly decorated interiors (thanks to the proprietor/curator Sheetal) to the warm staff and the delicious, swiss baked breads at breakfast, all of the effort and pride that goes into running Thikana feels designed to make your experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
My father, sister and I still remark to each other how much we feel honored to know the owners, Atul and Sheetal. They treat you like royalty, or rather, family. The New York times recommended Thikana, which is how I found them, and they're right. Thikana is incredible.
And it's completely affordable too?! Book them. "

" I have been to Delhi 4 times over the past 1.5 years on business and would never consider staying anywhere else. Thikhana has the ability to continuously deliver a high level of service and has never disappointed. Aside from the basics - spacious, well-appointed rooms, modern bathrooms (with plenty of hot water as others have pointed out), friendly staff, fantastic bread selection at breakfast, etc. – it is the owners that make the difference, making you feel at home while away from home, introducing you to Indian culture whether it's recommending a place to eat or opening their home to guests on one of the many Indian holidays. Cannot recommend it highly enough. "

  • “Good choice”
" We have stayed in Delhi several times over the past four years but this was the first time we chose a homestay option. We were most impressed with Thikana, staying on three separate occasions during our recent Indian vacation.
The location is convenient and quiet, being in a very secure, gated residential area. It can be a bit hard to find, our drivers had some trouble and normally had to ask directions. If you arrive late at night be aware that the gate may be locked and you have to come by another route.
All the staff were friendly and very helpful. The communal areas were well set up and provided an opportunity to meet other guests.
Free wifi was a HUGE bonus.
The entire place has lovely decor and numerous lounge options including a rooftop terrace. Room facilities are excellent. "

" Best place I've stayed in my 2 week tour of India. Stayed at 3 different B&Bs in different cities, and I couldn't wait to get back to Thikana.
Pros: CONSTANT HOT WATER! Great service. Clean living. Friendly atmosphere. Amazing comfort.
    Cons: none.
Owners are amazingly nice, and very helpful in every way. They always ask about your day, and what you have planned, and also help suggest things that you should try. We did everything they suggested, and has made our stay and experience in India so much better. Don't bother going somewhere else! This place has it all. Also, book early, because they sell out! • “After Thikana, I'll never stay in a chain hotel in Delhi!”
" Thikana feels like home, just nicer. I've been visiting this lovely Bed & Breakfast regularly since 2008 and it just keeps getting better. Delhi can be a lot to take in, especially for a first-timer to India, and Thikana is like an oasis amongst the overwhelming traffic and people.
The rooms are both beautiful and super comfortable, with high quality beds, linens, furniture, and water pressure. The common areas are full of art, with access to TV, stereo, and invite you to relax and hang out. Breakfast is wonderful and you have access to snacks throughout the day or the ability to order in food from area eateries. And the staff take care of you from the moment you arrive.
This is all possible because of Atul and Sheetal, the proprietors. They really think of Thikana as an extension of their home and welcome you to it lovingly. They have good suggestions for everything to do and see in Delhi and can set you up with tours, drivers, spa treatments, etc. All you have to do is ask. It's hard to believe that you can get this quality and such a reasonable price. I'll never stay at a hotel chain in Delhi again! "

  • " We just returned from our Himalayan trip, stopping a few nights in Delhi, a couple of which we stayed in Thikana, based on reviews I read on Tripadvisor. We found it to be most charming, and the proprietors better than the best concierge at any five stars hotels, in terms of warm service, on top of expert help and guidance for all our travel needs. As much as we always research and try to hit all the best, premier restaurants in each new city that we travel to, we genuinely enjoyed the home cooked dinners served by the kitchen. For the brief two nights, the entire staff made us felt like we were staying at the home of a friend, which beats staying at the Imperial or Taj Mahal any time! The rate was unbeatable to boot, since you are not charged the luxury tax as you will at the other establishments! The rooms may not be as nicely appointed as at the Imperial, but we don't missed the hustle and bustle at the latter either, at which we paid almost three times as much, and enjoyed less! Thikana is located very close to a busy street, but the rooms are sound proofed enough to not bother us a beat to sleep at night."

  • " Our only hesitation about reviewing Thikana is the desire to keep it to ourselves! We go to India every year on business and have stayed in many Delhi hotels. Thikana is on a busy road so we hesitated in case it was noisy. It is south of city centre, which suited us well. The rooms and bathrooms are very pleasant, nicely decorated, simple and tasteful. The optional home-cooked meals were always delicious. The generosity of our hosts was boundless. Guests are made to feel a part of the family: they are generous with their time, their friendship, their advice, their assistance. Support staff were also friendly and helpful. The other guests were all doing interesting things in
